Martial Arts
Martial arts is the one way for children to learn better. And, there is no need to read any further. Except, as long as you find an excellent martial arts school for your child, for your children, the family. I’m not going to keep you through the end of 500 or 1,000 or 2,000 words.
But, when children begin practicing martial arts, TaeKwonDo in my case, they will start a path of better learning. Children will start a path to other forms of character building. This is a short list; self-esteem, confidence, (just look at the image to the left, and those below) to be disciplined and successful, to be respectful, to increase focus, awareness and attentiveness..more?
To think and react more quickly, to be kind, to be protective as self-defense, to be thoughtful, mindful, to have faith in a process, to be mentally and physically fit and healthy, reduce stress, build self-realization and inner peace, a total transformation. Well, a little longer, then short. Also, to create another whole set of friends and friendships, another level of happiness within a community.
Starting in grade school at an excellent martial arts school, into high school, into college and into a professional career.
Why
Now, I say TaeKwonDo, as I have practiced TaeKwonDo for 12 or so years. The learning should apply to any good martial art training. TaeKwonDo vs. Karate, Kung Fu, that will be up to your research and the “why of their way” that you will prefer your children to learn. For me it was TaeKwonDo, a martial art, based on self-defense, as every form begins with a block. TaeKwonDo is the martial art I am familiar with, so will speak, write of and refer to, but again, excellent martial art schools, their practice, all applies to better learning in school and for life.
So, if you are still reading, haven’t quite started searching for TaeKwondo schools near me, you might be asking why TaekwonDo, why martial arts? I mean, as you don’t know me, to trust me and trust my “opinion”…why? And, why, is a good question! Why is a very good question. There are a lot of what’s one can do and there are a few how’s to go about it. If you did not train martial arts in grade school or high school, take a moment, close your eyes, to name a few “why’s that you might have gotten out of, from the practice of martial arts. Of course, we are talking about practice in an excellent martial arts school with an excellent children’s school. If you did practice martial arts, then you probably already know all of this and probably more.
Much of that listed above; discipline, confidence, etc, a sense of accomplishment are good to excellent reasons why to begin practice.
Time…Cost…
So, you might be thinking, asking, what about the time to put into training. Yes, both big considerations. “Jenny” already studies hours and hours a week, and I don’t think she could squeeze in another hour of any kind of study during the week.
There is a phenomena that happens in martial arts, and again, probably in any excellent martial arts training. I don’t know what to call it. It has to do with time, another dimension, that folds onto its self. I’m sure there is a word or phrase for it.
The concept has to do with the 6-8 hours of training per week, does not equal a 6-8 hours of reduced study time. The martial arts student not only studies all that is required in a week, and maybe more, but also attains higher grades. And granted, that doesn’t happen that week, however, before they’re into their 3rd color belt you’ll turn around one day and see it.
And, what about the price??? Same idea, same concept. It just seems to get absorbed into the families cost of living. And, it is really an investment, and that investment grows. It is an asset.
and, lunch money…
Oh, and did I say, no one will ever take their “lunch money”…no one will take their friend’s “lunch money”…quicker…blocks, higher…kicks, stronger…punches…
There are many reasons and benefits for your child, children, the whole family, to join an excellent martial arts school. One with an excellent children’s program, to begin practicing and training under the direction of excellent black belts. And, for the children, one of the many unexpected reasons is increased learning.
