Pets/house sitting in Dewey, Arizona, down the road from Prescott…September.
Then Came Mr. Toby, Ms. Ella and Ms. Cinder. We had the fantastic fortune and opportunity to pet and house sit for Toby, Ella and Cinder. Not only were Toby, Ella and Cinder a joy, fun and very friendly to be with, and the home of their human friends was wonderful, the weather at 5,000 feet in early September was a huge welcome compared to the heat in Phoenix. We got to spend 3 nights, from Wednesday afternoon on through to Saturday morning with this family’s lovely pets in a beautiful part of Arizona.

Portraits
So, a couple things we do are take photos of the pets and send a couple pictures via text or email at least every other day, and sometimes everyday. Then while we have quite a few pictures to select from, near the end of our stay, I’ll select a few to do a sketch portrait. We’ll send the images to the owners and they can make prints on any medium, a smaller square size or larger size, as well as get the images printed on mugs, pillows, t-shirts, etc. As you can probably tell, the following are Toby, Cinder and Ella.

Home
The accommodations of their home are perfect. The neighborhood is perfect with views of the beautiful hills and mountains. Shopping, restaurants, hiking, biking, swimming and golfing to name just a few activities are all very close. The town of Prescott is down the road to the west, while to the east a few miles is Arcosanti. There must be some ranches nearby to get on a horse and ride acre after acre on these beautiful lands.

Dewey-Humboldt, Arizona
And, for those curious about the Dewey-Humboldt area, this part of Arizona has been around for decades, probably since Arizona has been a territory with ranches.
However, in the past decade or two the area has expanded with more family oriented and retirement residential areas and plenty of local mom and pop to big box shopping.
While we enjoy house sitting in world-wide locations, we are also open to house sitting locally, whether that is Scottsdale/Phoenix area, the Southwest…depending on where “local” takes us. Arizona, the Southwest has beautiful places, landscapes and we enjoy traveling and visiting all.
To accommodate and coordinate…
So, this was a bit different pet/home sit in that we never met the owners. We emailed back and forth 3, 4 times and sent some texts, but we did not meet pre, or upon arrival or at departure. This was unlike, our other pets/home sit where we met pre for coffee, then during the week of departure, and then where the owner was sweet enough to invite us over a week afterwards for fruit and cheese, crackers and wine, and sweet gifts from France.
